Identifying the properties of 2D shapes in the woodland area

Year 6 have been identifying the properties of 2D shapes and using a range of mathematical vocabulary.

The children were required to get into groups of 4 and find in our woodland area 12 large and 12 small sticks.

The challenge was to make a shape or picture that contained the greatest number of 2D  shapes possible.

Children then identified all the internal shapes, angles and accurately measured them using a protractor.

  • Acute angles
  • Obtuse angles
  • Reflex angles
  • Right angles and perpendicular lines
  • Parallel lines.

  1. I see mine, Charlotte and Alishia’s glasses we made !!!!

  2. That was great fun and I made a snowman. But I’m hoping it will be sunny for the half term {finger crossed.}
